Aviation Auditor

Overview

Do you have good aviation auditing experience, with knowledge of quality, safety and / or compliance processes and are you used to conducting and reporting on compliance audits within the aviation sector against management systems? Are you looking for a flexible contract opportunity? If so, read on, as Baines Simmons, leaders in Aviation Safety Consulting and Training, are looking for an experienced Aviation Auditor to join their Associate Team. This is a remote (with travel), daily rate opportunity, so would suit you if you have your own registered company or if you are a sole trader. 

 

Work varies dependent on business needs.  This position offers the opportunity to make an impact by ensuring adherence to industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies and you will provide compliance audits within aviation environments. You will have the independence to manage your own schedule, while contributing to continuous improvement and operational safety and also be willing and able to travel for some audits.

Responsibilities

What you will be doing:

 

Audit Planning and Execution:

  • Conducting compliance audits within an aviation environment against their management system, ensuring they meet internal and regulatory standards
  • Performing both on-site and remote audits, handling planning, document review, and assessments as required
  • Adhering to best practices and regulatory guidelines (e.g., UK CAA, EASA) during all audit processes

 

Audit Reporting and Follow-Up:

  • Preparing concise audit reports, summarising areas of compliance, key findings and observations
  • Communicating audit results to relevant stakeholders
  • Supporting departments with the management of corrective actions, if required

Qualifications

What we are looking for:

  • At least 3 years of aviation auditing experience, with knowledge of quality, safety and / or compliance processes
  • Experience conducting compliance audits within the aviation sector against management systems, ensuring they meet internal and regulatory standards
  • Experience adhering to best practices and regulatory guidelines (e.g., UK CAA, EASA) during audit processes
  • Demonstrable  knowledge of the airworthiness ruleset
  • Experience of preparing and presenting concise audit reports summarising areas of compliance, key findings and observations
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills
  • Relevant experience in Aviation, Aerospace Engineering, Safety Management, and / or a similar field
  • Lead Auditor certification (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9110) is desirable but not essential
  • Prior lead auditing experience is beneficial but not essential
